What has the reader gotten himself into? It is hard to say. The role of the reader is changing rapidly. Even to the extend where readers are not really readers, but something completely different. Like consumers, co-creators, listeners, editors, writers… What happened?

The audience is on the eternal move
What is the audience, but a crowd to deliver your attention unto? Well, for some createurs, they’ll be shocked to learn that there is an audience or that their efforts have attracted the attention of others, even if they really wanted it to happen. Other artists or people in the performing arts or in communication know all about their audience and adjust their work to accomodate the needs and desires of their followers (now it sounds like politics). And then we have a huge group in between, where they try to forget about their audience as soon as they see the reflections of their faces in the mushy darkness of the theatre. But they cannot, and most of their attention swerves between not knowing and being too knowing, between painstaking consciousness and numbing oblivion.
